Srinagar, Mar 22 (KNO): Scores of workers under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) staged a protest on Friday, demanding the implementation of the Minimum Wages Act and the regularization of their jobs.
The protesters, including Anganwadi workers, helpers gathered at Sheri Kashmir Park Srinagar and raised slogans in support of their long-pending demands. They urged the government to adress their contributions and ensure fair wages.
“We have been working for years on meager salaries, which are not enough to sustain our families. The government must implement the Minimum Wages Act and regularize our services,” said one of the protesting workers while speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Another protester said that despite playing a crucial role in child and maternal health programs, they are still treated as temporary workers. “We demand dignity and financial security. It is high time the authorities take our issues seriously,” she added.
Notably, the protesters appealed to the administration to address their grievances at the earliest, warning of intensified protests if their demands were not met—(KNO)
